Wojciech Myrczek Quartet was formed in 2009. Its members are young, though already experienced Polish jazz musicians: Wojciech Myrczek – vocal, Michał Wierba – piano, Michał Kapczuk – bass, Sebastian Kuchczński – drums. They all are recipients of various awards at the major jazz competitions in Poland and abroad. Repertoire of the band consists mostly of jazz standards in new arrangements.
Wojciech Myrczek was born in 1987 in Poland. He grew up in the family of musicians hence from his early years, he has been exposed to music. Graduate of the musical High School in the class of cello and theory of music, he decided to continue his musical education in the Academy of Music in Katowice (Poland) in the class of jazz singing. He developed soon remarkable skills in scat improvisation supported by his vivid harmonic imagination. He is a recipient of the 1st Prize at the International Meeting of Jazz Vocalists in Zamosc (Poland). In Lotos Jazz Festival 2010 Competition in Bielsko (Poland), he was awarded of Special Award for the most original musical personality. He participated in many jazz and classical projects in Poland, Germany, France, United Kingdom and Ukraine. Since 2006 he has been collaborating with Camerata Silesia – The Katowice City Singers‘ Ensemble.
